2 teenagers struck by cars in N.H.

The police in Derry said two teenage girls are in the hospital after being struck by separate vehicles on Route 28, or Manchester Road.

The accidents happened at 9:10 p.m. Friday near Ocean State Job Lot. Both pedestrians, 13-year-old Lauren Gendreau of Derry and 15-year-old Sophia Christen of Manchester, were taken to Parkland Medical Center with serious injuries.
Christen was later flown
to University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester with serious head injuries.

The two vehicles were operated by 63-year-old George Draper of Bow and 58-year-old Anne Bartlett of Manchester. The police said Manchester Road was closed to traffic for about five hours while the police investigated the accident.
