UNH’s Goumas named Hockey East co-Player of the Week

After posting a hat trick to help the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team advance to the Hockey East semifinals, Kevin Goumas was named a conference co-Player of the Week.

Goumas won the award, which he shares with Providence’s Derek Army, after posting three goals and two assists in UNH’s three-game quarterfinal victory over Northeastern. The three goals came in the third and decisive game, when the senior forward scored a pair of first-period tallies before adding a third-period goal to break a 3-3 tie and help the Wildcats to a 5-4 win.

Goumas has been the team’s top playmaker all year, and is currently fifth in the country with 50 points in 38 games on 17 goals and 33 assists.
