Reading roughs up Fisher Cats, 14-3

Taylor Cole (0-1) gave up three runs in the first inning of his Fisher Cats debut last night and lasted just 5.1 innings after giving up eight runs on eight hits and four walks in New Hampshire’s 14-3 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils.

After Reading (47-66) grabbed the early lead, Andy Burns hit a solo homer in the second for the Fisher Cats. The teams each added two runs in the third, with Jake Fox belting a two-run homer for Reading and Jon Berti (3-for-4) providing a two-run single for New Hampshire (54-60). After that it was all Reading, which broke the game wide open with an eight-run sixth inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Zach Collier (3-for-5) off reliever Scott Gracey.

Severino Gonzalez (7-12) earned the win for the Fightin Phils, yielding three runs on seven hits and three walks in seven innings.
