Last week the Monitor published a two-panel cartoon on its op-ed page by Dick Wright. The cartoon appears to be missing the center panel. The first panel depicts the Trump economy, featuring Trump galloping along aboard a hard-charging thoroughbred. The second panel shows the Biden economy, represented by Biden sitting astride a coin-operated kiddie horse ride.
What Dick Wright failed to capture was the economic horse collapsing into a ditch because of the COVID epidemic that Trump failed to acknowledge or respond to. Other panels might show the horse on a ventilator, or maybe in a grave along with close to 600,000 dead Americans. As for the economic recovery, that appears to underway, now that the vaccination effort, led by the Biden administration, is bringing the COVID crisis to its conclusion.
