So, Mr. Mendola, how exactly do I judge the contents of one’s character? I certainly cannot ascertain what the contents of one’s character is by seeing one’s color, height, weight, age, haircut (or lack thereof), facial hair (or lack thereof), the clothes one wears, or any other physical appearance. But any one or two of these characteristics may trigger assumptions about the content of one’s character or even block one’s inquiry into said content.
Systemic racism is the means by which access to the content of one’s character is systemically blocked. CRT is one of the means by which the doors of perception are opened. In order to read a book, you must read it, not discard it because you don’t like its looks. Systemic profiling of books disables one from discovering the content of its character. And the way we discover a book’s meaning is through critical reading and thinking.
