I have followed the debates between former at-large City Councilor Mark Coen and current Ward 5 resident Stacey Brown during this campaign season. While both candidates seem well qualified for the job, I would have to give the edge to Mr. Coen. Mark has been there before and has done a terrific job. He has seen the long-term effects of council decisions made, both good and bad, and brings a statesman-like demeanor to the council.
As for Ms. Brown, she seems to be a great community organizer with energy to spare. That said, there is much going on in our city right now and I would like to rely on Mark’s institutional knowledge when considering future steps to improve the quality of life in our city. Regardless of whom you choose to vote for in the upcoming election, please exercise your right to do so!
