Donald Trump told us last week that Vladimir Putin is a “very savvy genius.” The former president praised the Russian dictator for walking into a vast, vast country with a lot of people at the cost of a mere $2 worth of sanctions. “How smart is that?” Trump asked. “He’s going to go in and be a peacekeeper.”

On FOX News, the ex-president mistakenly thought host Laura Ingraham had just said the U.S. was mounting an amphibious invasion of the Ukraine from the Black Sea. Actually, it was Russia invading. “You shouldn’t be saying that,” he told Ingraham, “because you and everybody else shouldn’t know about it, they (the U.S.) should do that secretly, not be doing that through the great Laura Ingraham.”

If those comments sound like dementia, treason or both at a bad time, please recall that Trump has done many crazy, disloyal things. He colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. He extorted the Ukrainian president for dirt on Joe Biden in the lead-up to the 2020 election. Then he sent a mob into Congress to overturn the election he lost by 7 million votes. Trump has showed Putin all he needed to see. Let’s hope the prosecutors in Georgia and New York put Trump in jail, where he belongs, before he runs for president in 2024.
