I have no problem with folks having compassion for our furry critters, however I wonder if Ms. Synder has any idea how much damage red and gray squirrels do to property here in NH? In a small sugar bush as ours they are a nuisance, in a large sugar bush such as Mr. Pearl’s and other large producers, they are a terrible problem.

A few years ago my brother-in-law and wife came back from their winter sojourn to Florida, and found a number of grays had gotten down the chimney and flue and taken up residence in their home. Thousands of dollars of damage was done to furniture and artifacts. Complete home had to be fumigated. I would remind Ms. Synder that squirrels are nothing but a rat with a bushy tail. Be cautious.
