While people are struggling to pay high gas prices at the pump, five of the biggest oil companies made $75 billion in profits in 2021, their highest profit in seven years. Oil and gas companies CEOs are using every chance they can to gouge prices and line their pockets with profits, fueling the climate crisis. The best way for America to lower costs and be truly energy independent is to increase the production of clean energy and renewable sources. More fossil fuels does not equal energy independence.
It’s frustrating to see the fossil fuel industry taking advantage of hard-working families, disproportionately subjecting communities of color to pollution, threatening sacred land and pristine ecosystems, and exploiting crises like the Russia-Ukraine conflict. We must say “no” to more fossil fuels and “yes” to a comprehensive climate package with clean energy investments that will help us avoid relying on foreign oil. I strongly urge Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, Reps. Annie Kuster and Chris Pappas to say “no” to more fossil fuels and “yes” to a comprehensive climate package with clean energy investments.
