Langley Parkway Extension Phase 3 is a transportation solution in search of a problem. Merrimack County is losing about 1,500 acres of forest each year, mostly to development. The parkway would needlessly accelerate that loss.
It would reduce wildlife habitat, forest cover and open space where those essentials are most needed. Given all that we know about climate change and forest carbon, it would be better to nurture Concord’s forests than to build an unneeded highway.
