Bishop Brady 9, White Mountains 8

Key players: Bishop Brady  – Bradyn Mundy (4.1 IP, 3 ER, 4 K), Chris Grimbilas (win, 2.2 IP, 3 ER; 2 hits, 2 RBI), Bryce Miller (3 hits, double, 5 RBI), Michael Thresher (2 doubles, 2 RBI, 3 runs)

Highlights: The Giants stunned the top-ranked and undefeated Spartans, taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run double by Thresher and an RBI single from Grimbilas.  An RBI single from Miller made it 4-0 through four innings, but Mundy tired in the fifth inning after pitching four scoreless frames, and White Mountains scored five times in the fifth inning to take the 5-4 lead. Brady responded by scoring three runs in the bottom half of the inning, off a two-run double from Miller and another RBI single from Grimbilas. White Mountains tied the game again in the sixth inning, but Brady answered yet again. Miller had a big hit with the bases loaded to plate two more runs.

Coach’s quote: “What a hard-fought high school baseball game. Great effort and great win for us knocking off a 15-0 team. Bradyn and Chris both battled a tough lineup on the mound and our approach at the plate against their top two pitchers was fantastic today. One through nine, we just kept grinding up there at the plate to knock out the starter, and (Bryce Miller) had a great bases-loaded base on probably the best pitcher in our division. Really proud of my guys and how far we have come after a 2-8 start to now be 7-8 and qualifying for the (Division III) tournament.” – Bishop Brady’s Skip Foy

Records: Bishop Brady 7-8; White Mtns. 15-1
