As a nearby resident I often travel through the construction site at exit 17. I am very impressed with the ability of the construction workers to keep the traffic flowing with minimal interruptions. I am not impressed with the name “Merchants Way.” What happened, was the name “Generic Mall” already taken? Aren’t we trying to attract tourists and locals alike?
There is absolutely nothing about the name “Merchants Way” that would entice me to leave Interstate 93. Sounds like a short street of old warehouses. Take advantage of our local history. The old name for Concord, “Pennycook,” would be perfect. “Pennycook Place” has a ring to it. We might consider: Kearsarge Plaza, Shoestring Way, Whitney Way, Rumford Place, Winant Way, Hoyt Marsh Mall, Merrimack River Plaza. Surely we can make this brand new opportunity more exciting then “Merchants Way.”
