The mid-term elections are coming and the political ads are beginning. Maybe it’s time to do some more fact checking. The Republican candidates keep blaming the current inflation and fuel prices on Biden, Hassan, and Pappas. It’s not their fault. Please read and listen to varied news reports. The day I started writing this, Aug. 18th, the front-page headline in the Wall Street Journal was, “U.K. Inflation Rate Tops 10%, Leading a Rise Across Europe.” That inflation rate is higher than in the U.S. The current inflation cycle is a global problem that’s been brought about by several factors, not the actions of any individual or political party.

The same is true with fuel prices. This has been brought about by several factors with the war in Ukraine and people’s lives returning to somewhat normal after COVID, traveling and picking up their lives where they left off two years ago, being a couple reasons for the increases. This is a global problem and not the fault of individuals or a political party unless one places the blame on Putin. In case no one’s noticed, gasoline prices have fallen over a $1.00 per gallon in the last month. Can Biden take the credit for that? There’s an unhealthy social divide in our country caused by political influences. We need to get back to truthful statements made by politicians and have them represent what’s correct and not the political bashing that’s been going on for too long.
