Do you believe in fairies? How about unicorns? Is there a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Maybe you also believe Republicans are better on the economy. Check an objective source. My research showed five notable recessions since 1975. They are: 1981-82, Reagan president; 1991-92, Bush president; 1990-91, Bush president; 2001, Bush president; 2007-2009, Bush-Obama president; 2020, Trump president. I am not blaming these presidents for the economic downturns. Our finances are now part of global events.

The Enron scandal, 9-11, the mortgage crisis, the COVID pandemic and the Russian war in Ukraine affect everything from product availability to gas prices. So, if politicians aren’t responsible for the economy, how should you decide who to vote for? How about listening to them? Republicans across the board have indicated that they will forbid women from controlling their own bodies, that they want to restrict rights of other citizens as well, that they don’t believe in climate change and, here in New Hampshire, they are working to destroy the historic quality of our public schools. Politicians should be public servants working for the common good. We need to vote for the ones who will work for us, not for mythical promises that are impossible to enact.
