Letter: Christian Nationalism, no different from rule by the Taliban

The reason the framers of the Constitution specified in the First Amendment that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion” was because many of those who fled Europe for America were fleeing to avoid religious persecution, and the framers realized that it was essential for citizens to be free to choose their religious beliefs. The so-called Christian Nationalists, by imposing their religion on the nation are no different from the Taliban which dictates to the people of Afghanistan its own religious beliefs and gender stereotypes.

The U.S. Supreme Court, until it was “poisoned” by politicism by the Republican Party has dictated when life begins despite its ignorance of science and its complete disregard for the rights of women. Please vote Democratic to preserve the protection of our individual rights to privacy and to choose our own religious beliefs. The legislature and the Congress have acted in ignorance under the right wing Republican tyranny.
