When is the city going to put a stop to the parking of the cobblestone strip on Main Street?
The parking of delivery vehicles has gotten way out of hand. With box trucks and tractor-trailers parking in the strip, pedestrians crossing the street off or on the crosswalks are extremely hard to see coming out from behind a large truck. These trucks make it extremely hard at times to exit or enter a side street. They also defeat the purpose for which it was intended, being able to skirt parallel parking cars, not to mention head-in vehicles not being able to back out into traffic because they are blocked in by a delivery truck.
This was never the intent of that strip, and it’s only getting worse. Deliveries should be restricted to before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. or, better still, banned completely. Make use of areas like Low Avenue and off side streets, and limit the size of delivery vehicles.
Someone is going to get seriously hurt. Smarten up, officials.
