A Laconia woman is accused of fleeing police before crashing into three vehicles in Belmont.
A Belmont officer attempted to pull over a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am driven by 41-year-old Heidi Sweeney for a motor vehicle violation on Friday evening. But police say Sweeney fled the area and ultimately crashed into three vehicles at the intersection of Route 3 and Union Road.
Sweeney, who suffered serious injuries, had to be extricated from her car by Belmont firefighters, police said. She was transported by ambulance to Concord Hospital.
The drivers of the three other vehicles suffered minor injuries; one was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, while the rest received medical treatment onย scene.
A section of Route 3 was closed for approximately three hours Friday night.
New Hampshire State Police are continuing to investigate the crash and ask anyone with information to contact Trooper Alexa Williamson at 603-323-3333 or by email at alexa.b.williamson@dos.nh.gov.
