A 29-year-old nurse at the New Hampshire State Hospital was arrested for possession of child sex abuse imagery Sunday.
Peter Lariviere of Concord is facing three felony charges and is being held without bail on preventive detention.
His arrest was the result of an investigation by police in the German state of Bavaria that began in April, when the state’s criminal police department and Europol, the police force of the European Union, shut down an international online platform for child sex abuse images.
The dark web site, Kidflix, had nearly two million users over the preceding three-year span, according to a Europol announcement.
The Department of Homeland Security reached out to local investigators about Lariviere in July. A search of his home on Aug. 15 found electronic devices with illicit content, including content related to Kidflix, Concord Police said.
Lariviere was arrested at his home on Sunday.
He is listed in the state employee directory as a registered nurse at the New Hampshire State Hospital. The Department of Health and Human Services confirmed Wednesday that Lariviere has been placed on administrative leave.
