Library exploitation
The Moultonborough Public Library is transitioning from a welcoming, picturesque country library with books about ducks, loons and bears to a political headquarters for the Carroll County Democrats. Coming soon is a meeting titled Legislative Listening Tour to “learn” what’s going on at the State House.
Sure, the subject sounds ever so sweet and innocuous. It might be okay if it was held by the neutral Granite State Ambassadors or Undeclared voters. But this topic is being hosted by a one-sided political party.
The Moultonborough Public Library is paid for by Undeclareds. Democrats, Republicans, other party members and non-voters. All of these people need to be respected and accounted for. Do the residents of Moultonborough want their taxes supporting partisan political meetings?
I love our town libraries in New Hampshire. I use the library the right way by taking out books, DVDs and attending neutral events. I have pleaded with the director to run an impartial library. I have written letters to the editor. I have contacted the selectman. Does anybody in their heart and mind really think it’s okay for a library to become a clubhouse for one political party?
