A large fire broke out early Friday morning at a recycling facility in Weare, sending heavy smoke billowing across neighboring towns.

At 6:45 a.m., the Weare fire department was dispatched to Granite State Recycling on 33 B and B Lane, where they arrived to find the commercial building engulfed in flames. 

Soon, the blaze escalated to a third alarm, drawing multiple firefighting crews to the scene. The Dunbarton Fire Department was one crew requested to assist with the fire.

The fire remained active at 9 a.m. on Friday and crews were expected to stay on site for an extended period, according to the Weare Fire Department.

Residents in Goffstown and Manchester reported smelling smoke drifting from the site. 

The facility serves as a sorting, storage and transfer hub for materials including tires, rubber, cardboard, yard waste and electric appliances โ€” items that can fuel intense fires.
