A teacher at the Pembroke Hill School is receiving medical treatment after being hit by a car during morning drop-off on Tuesday.

The teacher sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is in “stable” condition, according to a statement posted by the school on Tuesday afternoon. The teacher will require time to recover.

“We know this news can be unsettling, and our thoughts are entirely with them and their family,” the school wrote, asking the community to respect the teacher’s privacy and “refrain from speculation about the incident.”

Students were sent home at 10:30 a.m. and will return to school tomorrow at the usual time. None were injured in the collision.

“To ensure continuity and support for our staff and students, we have arranged for counselors to be available and have worked with staff to address questions that may come up,” the school said in its post.

The Pembroke Police Department said it will not be releasing further information regarding the accident at this time.

Pembroke Hill is a kindergarten through fourth-grade public school with around 330 students.
