John Conforti will stay on as the city of Concord’s top attorney, after serving as the city solicitor on an acting basis for the last two months.

Conforti joined the city as deputy solicitor in the summer of 2024 after six years as an investigator with the state Lottery Commission. Former city solicitor Danielle Pacik took a job with New Hampshire Public Risk Management Exchange, or Primex, in September. Conforti had been serving in the role on an interim basis and was confirmed as Pacik’s successor in a city council vote Monday night.

Conforti said he was honored to step into the role and that he looks “forward to assisting the Cityโ€™s departments, boards, and commissions in the critical work they do for the citizens of Concord,โ€ according to a written statement released by the city.

At the Lottery Commission, Conforti served as chief compliance officer, overseeing the state’s casinos as well as audits and investigations into them. He worked with the state Attorney Generalโ€™s office during an investigation intoย Concord Casino owner Andy Sanbornย that determined he fraudulently received and used pandemic relief funds.

His resume also includes time as an assistant attorney general in the state department of justice’s civil and transportation bureaus.

City Manager Tom Aspell praised Conforti’s work so far with the city and said he was confident that standard would continue.

The city solicitor heads the cityโ€™s legal department, advising city leaders on the effect of new laws, pending litigation, personnel issues and public records requests.

Pacik held the role for just 18 months following the departure of longtime city solicitor Jim Kennedy in early 2024.
