NH Legislators: Oppose the waste of time CACR 15

Please oppose CACR 15, the resolution that would place hunting, fishing and harvesting game into the New Hampshire Constitution as a constitutional right. It will come before our House of Representatives on Wednesday or Thursday.

New Hampshire’s Constitution should be reserved for fundamental rights and the structure of government, not for elevating one recreational activity above others.

Hunting and fishing are already well-regulated and supported in our state. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department manages wildlife and oversees these activities to ensure they continue responsibly.

Elevating one recreational activity above others, such as wildlife watching, hiking, skiing or snowmobiling, is unnecessary. There is no evidence that hunting and fishing are in danger of disappearing in New Hampshire.

CACR 15 is a solution in search of a problem and an unnecessary use of the Legislature’s time.
