Anybody home?
For well over 20 years, real estate moguls have been purchasing manufactured home/mobile parks to enhance their own financial wellbeing. To do so, they may offer a year’s rent and then the following year make it a monthly rent with each month being a little higher than the former, forcing people out of their homes. When these real estate moguls buy a park and a person wants to sell their home, the new park owner may decide how much that person has to make and will nearly double the monthly rent, making it impossible for many to sell their homes and for the new buyer to afford the rent plus a mortgage payment and taxes.
When the owner can no longer afford this monthly increase on the rent, they will eventually have to walk away and the owner of the park will take title and do whatever he needs to do to fill his pockets. Many of us are facing this situation in New Hampshire and we need to have legislation that protects us from losing our homes to these moguls.
Also, many of us have been in our homes for 20 or more years and have made many improvements to keep our homes up to date and comfortable. We have bought them for our retirement years. We did not buy them to eventually be ripped off.
Right now, you and I may be home, but is the legislature?
