Esther L. Hartshorn

Concord, NH – Esther L. Hartshorn, 103, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at Presidential Oaks, Concord, New Hampshire.

She was born on April 23, 1922 ,the daughter of William and Mabel Mahoney. Esther was the widow of Philip C. Hartshorn ,who passed away on January 2,1982.

A lifelong resident of Concord, New Hampshire, Esther met her beloved husband Philip in high school and together they built a life centered on family and community. She worked part-time as a church secretary and later for the State of New Hampshire. She chose part-time work so she could be home when her children left for school in the morning and returned from school in the afternoon, something that reflected her deep devotion to her family.

She was a devoted mother of two, grandmother of three, and great-grandmother of seven. Esther loved dancing throughout her life and cherished the many memories it brought her with friends and family. She was a longtime devoted member of Bow Mills United Methodist Church, where her faith and friendships were an important part of her life.

Esther is survived by her daughter Pennie-Lynne Schelhorn and her husband Lonnie from Gualala, California and her daughter Torry of Dublin, Ireland; her son Kerrie and his wife Sara of Warner, New Hampshire; Granddaughter Becky Allen and her husband Michael of Wilmington, Delaware, and their children Andrew, Jack, Hailey, and James; Her grandson Adam Hartshorn and his wife Noelle of Weston, Massachusetts and their children Avery, William, and Bennett.

A celebration of Esther’s life will be held in the spring.
