So many broken promises

Why do Republicans continue to support Donald Trump. After all, he’s broken virtually every campaign promise he made in 2024. No more war. No more foreign political regime change. Greater respect among other countries for the United States. Lower gasoline, food and health insurance prices, and lower inflation overall. More manufacturing jobs. A booming economy. None of this has happened — often quite the opposite.

Trump closed the border but in doing so unleashed ICE to terrorize the population and in Minneapolis murder two U.S. citizens. He berates judges who rule against him, including the U.S. Supreme Court. His administration defies court orders and occasionally the Constitution. He pardons convicted felons. He browbeats and sues the media and universities. His Justice Department launches frivolous investigations into his perceived enemies. He lies repeatedly and frequently contradicts himself. He ignores expert advice but listens to those with no policy-relevant experience. He even cheats at golf!

All of this is well documented in the media, court transcripts, reports from non-partisan organizations and congressional hearings. Yet most congressional Republicans still support Trump and are afraid to cross him. With the midterm elections coming, supporters of Trump and congressional Republicans need to ask themselves whether this is what they voted for two years ago. And do they want more of the same for another two years? I hope not.
