A Northwood man wanted by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections for a years-old parole violation was apprehended this week after police said he stole goods by writing bad checks in Concord.

Mark S. Maynard, 49, was arrested by Concord Police on several warrants Monday, charging him with three counts each of issuing bad checks and theft by deception, reckless driving and other offenses, according to the Concord Police Department.

Since December, Maynard has been the subject of a Concord Police investigation involving “numerous cases” of writing bad checks when transacting with local businesses. Police suspected that the same person had committed similar infractions in several other cities and towns across the state, according to Concord Police.

Maynard had been previously named as a “Fugitive of the Week” by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.

In April 2025, the NH prison system spotlighted Maynard after he violated his probation, cautioning the public not to approach him because of “violent tendencies.” At the time, charges were pending against Maynard in Florida for grand theft, defrauding a financial institution, and in Rockingham County for resisting an officer and motor vehicle infractions.

Maynard was held at the Merrimack County House of Corrections and scheduled to appear in Concord District Court for his arraignment on Tuesday.
