Cocord, NH – Susan Ellen Salls, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Concord Hospital Oncology Unit surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born in Rutland, Vermont on November 19, 1946, Susan was raised in North Stratford, New Hampshire. She graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 1968 and began teaching at elementary schools in Tilton and Laconia.
In 1973, Susan’s ambition led her to invest in New Hampshire Flea Marketplace, which evolved into the progressive New Hampshire Times. She later founded Village West Publishing, where her publications became the leading voice for the North American hearth, patio, and barbecue industry. She concluded her 50-plus-year career mentoring another female entrepreneur in Concord.
In 1978, Susan married Kenneth Daggett. They settled in Gilmanton Iron Works, where daughter Danielle was born in 1980 and son Alexander in 1982. With a heart that exuded kindness and a spirit full of light, Susan was a gift to everyone who knew her. While she is deeply missed, Danielle and Alex remain forever grateful for the woman they are so proud to call their mother.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for April 18, 2026, at Pembroke Pines Country Club.
