I spent part of today watching the heavy equipment leveling the site of the future Market Basket shopping plaza in Penacook. To the best of my knowledge, this will be the first chain grocery store in Penacook since the A&P closed their village grocery store almost seventy years ago. I want to thank Concord Mayor Jim Bouley and the City Council for their tremendous support for this project.
I especially want to thank our Ward One City Councilor Brent Todd. Brent has worked so hard and for so long to make our dream of a grocery store in Penacook a reality. While at the same time he’s continued working to maintain the economic vitality of Penacook village. This shopping plaza will provide nearby shopping for Penacook and our neighboring communities. While in addition helping to increase the Penacook tax base. Penacook, a community with a proud history and a very bright future.
