The Winter Olympics have begun in PyeongChang, South Korea, and through the decades New Hampshire has been well presented as the world looked on.
Starting Friday, the Monitor will catch up with some of those athletes, from medal winners to those who never got near the podium, yet said the experience was well worth it.
We’ll hear them recall the sacrifices they made, the tension they felt, and the joys and disappointments connected to high-octane athletic competition.
Among the athletes to be interviewed and profiled by columnist Ray Duckler are Tara Mounsey, who beat the boys in high school and beat the Canadians in Nagano, Japan, to strike gold.; Julia Ford, who raced slalom in 2014 and placed 24th, snowboarder Scotty Lagos who won bronze in the halfpapie in 2010 behind Shawn White’s gold, and Gordon Eaton, who finished 17th in downhill skiing at the 1960 games.
