Thank you Leah Plunkett for addressing (Sunday Monitor Forum, July 3) something that has been on my mind for a very long time: Bullying.
It’s hard to teach our children to respect each other when our politicians have been terrible role models for so long.
Political campaigns are so out of control and have been for several years now. The two-party system hasn’t worked for a very long time. No matter which party comes up with a positive solution that would benefit all Americans the other party doesn’t want anything to do with it because it would be “disloyal” to their party. Bipartisan is just a word that gets thrown around but not practiced in any way. Shame on all of them. They spend way too much time viciously attacking each other instead of dealing with taking care of business.
Kids today have no idea what it feels like to be a proud American because there is very little to be proud of these days.
The elected president has no chance from day one because America has forgotten how to respect the office and work together for the good of the country.
Social media hasn’t helped at all because of the mean, disrespectful things that get said on a dairy basis. If Americans don’t respect the office, we certainly can’t expect respect from other countries.
God bless America; we sure need it.
