Included in the Concord city manager’s proposed is the creation of a $125,000 a year Economic Development Director. We tried this is the past and it was a failure. Then some bright bulb in city hall decided what we needed was a Deputy City Manager for Development. Clearly, this isn’t working either.

In the private sector when you have someone with substandard performance they are replaced by someone who can get the job done, but not the City of Concord where underperformers have their salary red-lined or in some cases new positions are created.

New Hampshire is a difficult sell, owing to our outrageous electricity and workman’s compensation costs. Rather than creating a new supernumerary, why not replace the individual who is not cutting it with someone who can.
