The Douglas N. Everett Arena will host public roller skating starting Friday through July 31. Admission will be $5 and skate rentals will be available for an additional $5. Public skating hours are Fridays 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Sundays 4 to 6 p.m. Teen night skating (age 12 to 17) hours are Fridays 8 to 10 p.m. and adult skating (age 18 and older) hours are Sundays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Private roller skating events can be booked by calling 228-2784 or emailing jbardwell@concordnh.gov. The Office of Youth Services and Recreation and the Hillsboro Police Department will sponsor the annual Youth Bike Race on June 18 (rain date June 19) at 4 p.m. at Grimes Field. There will be a series of bike races for boys and girls age 6 to 12 over various distances. The registration fee is $2 for residents of Hillsboro and Deering and $5 for all other children. Register the day of the race starting at 3 p.m. at Grimes Field or pick up forms at Hillsboro Police Department or on the Town of Hillsboro website under Recreation Department. Two new bikes donated by the Hillsboro Lions Club and the Hillsboro Police Union will be raffled off to participants after the race along with bike helmets.
