Hailed as “fast picking Nashville Wunderkinds,” the award-winning Infamous Stringduster will lay down the groove at Plymouth’s Flying Monkey tonight at 7:30.

The group plays a style of Americana groove, akin to the Grateful Dead, mixing bluegrass with other genres.

Since emerging eight years ago, it quickly earned IBMA awards, a Grammy nomination and a chart-topping self-titled album.

Band members include Andy Hall on dobro, Geremy Garrett on fiddle, Andy Falco on guitar, Chris Pandolfi on banjo and Travis Book on vocals.

The show will be a mix of wild covers and original pieces.

All tickets are $29.50. For more information or to reserve, call 536-2551 or visit flyingmonkeynh.com.

Local band and open mic

The monthly Third Friday Andover Community Coffeehouse will feature a Warner-based “farm funk” group.

The Dobros – Ben Dobrowski on guitar and vocals, Luke Dobrowski on drums, vocals and banjo, Colin Nevins on guitar and vocals and Chris Spann-Weitz on bass – made it’s debut in 2013.

The group plays a wide mix of blues, folk, funk, bluegrass, reggae, Americana, rock, disco, jazz and more, which it calls “farm funk.”

It has perform across New Hampshire and New England.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday for food purchases and open mic sign-ups. The band will perform at 7 p.m. at the Highland Lake Grange Hall in Andover. There’s no charge, but donations are accepted. This month’s show is sponsored by Tarte Cafe and Bakery.

David Tonkin, the school’s jazz faculty member, was mentored by Roos, which inspired the collaboration. Tonkin in turn, mentored Scott Kiefner, an alumnus who recently joined the faculty as jazz ensemble leader.

Roos will perform on guitar, Tonkin on guitar and Kiefner on bass, and they will be joined by Matt Langley on saxophone, Tom Robinson on piano and Tim Gilmore on drums.

The show will be Friday at 7 p.m. at the Concord Community Music School, 23 Wall St. The originally scheduled for 9 p.m. was canceled. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 228-1196 or visit ccmusicschool.org.
