We need Sen. Sanders

I am a Sen. Bernie Sanders supporter. He was been able to earn over 46 percent of the pledged delegates nationally. He has only 7 percent of the superdelegates. I worked to help Sanders win 61.3 percent of New Hampshire Democratic votes. I see many reasons why our superdelegates should choose Sanders as the nominee.

Primarily, Sanders represents the best ideals of the Democratic Party and our country. Clinton has followed his lead on many issues as she sees his stands are popular. Sanders has espoused these views for decades.

Some of his talking points are ahead of the country, such as free college tuition at public colleges and universities, and nationalized health care. I donโ€™t worry about these stands being idealistic. Congress will slow them down if the people are not ready for them, as it did with Social Security and Medicare for years before these ideas were adopted.

Democrats have historically espoused ideas ahead of the curve. Many were the right things to push for long before their adoption. The phased-in $15 per hour minimum wage is one that appears to be catching on. It can happen now in some cities and can be phased in elsewhere.

His most important stands against extreme income inequality and big moneyโ€™s control of our electoral process should be the Democratic Partyโ€™s rallying issues. Clinton cannot effectively carry those banners because she relies on the 1 percent and their tactics for so much of her support and has for decades.
