Police are investigating what led to a suspicious fire in a vacant Belmont home last weekend.
Belmont Police said a passing motorist on Route 106 reported flames coming from 30 Corriveau Way around 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
The red and white house is owned by HUD (U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department) and has been empty for three years. The fire destroyed the garage and damaged the home, police said, though Belmont firefighters were able to prevent a total loss.
Investigators have deemed the fire suspicious. Anyone with information is asked to call the Belmont police at 267-8350 or the fire department at 267-8333.
