Fed up with a life of insurance salesmen and petty problems, miscreants Eulpides and Pithetaerus head off to the kingdom of the birds.

So begins The Birds: A Modern Adaptation by Don Zolodis, based on Aristophanes’ classical comedy, which will be performed today and Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy.

While living among the birds, Eulpides (played by senior Joseph Guptill) and Pithetaerus (played by sophomore Ian Gollihur), envision a scheme to turn the bird’s land into a powerful utopia . . . and a financial jackpot.

Then, they run into the wrath of the gods.

The cast of 31 students will perform a satirical look at politics, power, religion and the folly of man.
