What the heck! The Concord Monitor’s coverage of a major professional tennis tournament finals on March 19 widely missed the mark. A quarter-page entry in the Sports section included the results of the men’s final, with not a single word about the women’s final, also a very exciting contest, between two 20-year-old, unseeded, rising stars. Enough of this biased reportage. The Monitor’s sports department needs be held accountable to a higher standard: equal coverage for girls and women.
