I have the unmitigated gall to live downtown and own a car. I realize this is unacceptable to the city council, who all have reserved spaces and driveways since they are about to take away my parking after the state took away parking on Pitman Street. They won’t let me lease a space in a garage, and the little lot under the Loudon Road bridge and the garages are filled all day. I need a car because I start work in the wee hours of the morning and need a space after I get out of work at 10 a.m. On an income of $25,000 a year, $250 per month to park on a meter is unaffordable. Typically, this change was made with no publicity to the people affected.
