Robert Azzi’s “My Turn” on Sept. 20 is excellent. He explains how Trump “brokered a peace deal” with three other strongmen: Israel’s Netanyahu, who is under indictment; the king of Bahrain, who rules his country along with his family members; and the infamous Mohammed bin Zayed, a.k.a. MBZ. They completely left out the Palestinians from any “peace agreement.”
Trump has been nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by Norwegian legislator Christian Tybring-Gjedde. Any Norwegian legislator can nominate anyone for the prize. According to Yahoo News, Tybring-Gjedde is a far-right winger who shares Trump’s anti-immigrant philosophy.
How can one broker a peace deal when Palestinians are left out in the cold? Their homes are still being bulldozed. Netanyahu’s bunch is still stealing land from Palestinians.
Come to think of it, I do not believe there has ever been a battle between Israel and UAE/Bahrain. So, how can you have a “cease fire”? I believe what Trump “brokered” is more like a trade deal.
