Fall family-favorites are back again at the 71st annual Warner Fall Foliage Festival from Friday through Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday host the majority of the activities. There will be a craft and farmers market and the library will host a book and bake sale.

“The quality of vendors at the Warner Fall Foliage Festival is one of the biggest reasons people continue to flock to Warner each year,” said John Whalen, a board member of the festival. “At this year’s festival, a record number of crafters will be exhibiting their products and services on Saturday and Sunday.”

There will be a youth oxen competition Friday night with the main oxen pull competition on Saturday behind The Foothills restaurant starting at 9:30 a.m. On Sunday at 11 a.m., there will be a Woodsmen competition with two-man crosscut, two-women crosscut, Jack and Jill crosscut, bow saw for women and men, axe throw for women and men, disc cutting, horizontal chop, wood splitting and chainsaw challenges.

A midway with rides will operate all three days, with three special times where a $17 bracelet lets you ride unlimited times.

There will be two races a five-mile race Saturday and a kids’ one-mile fun run on Sunday.

MainStreet Warner Stage at Jim Mitchell Park will be the venue for a full line up of musical guests including the DoBros, Brad Myrick and Sam Robbins. Robbins is appearing in this season of The Voice on NBC.

“In addition to Sam, our Saturday night featured group, Manchuka and the Aim High Canines, are both new performers at this year’s festival,” Whalen said.

Manchuka is an eight-piece band with horns, rhythm section and singers. They play light jazz, big band swing and high-energy dance music.

Aim High Canines is a dog show with tricks, disc and agility challenges.

At the Kearsarge Mountain Road Entertainment Center, you can catch the Granite State Cloggers, and the Kearsarge Center for Performing Arts will present a cabaret.

There will be plenty to eat, too. The First Church of Warner will hold a country breakfast both weekend days and there will be a lobster and chicken barbecue for lunch in the tent outside Simonds Elementary School.

The proceeds from the festival go back to the community in the form of grants.

Organizations must apply for the grants before the festival.

“Each year, thousands of dollars of festival proceeds have been awarded to community organizations and projects, thanks to the hard work and commitment of the many volunteers who donate their time and energy to make the festival come alive,” Whalen said.

Last year’s recipients were the Warner Department of Parks and Recreation and the Concord-Lake Sunapee Rail Trail.
