The Manchester Monarchs scored four first-period goals en route to a 6-3 victory over the Maine Mariners. Spencer Watson scored three goals for the Monarchs and Sam Kurker had two goals and an assist.
The Hillsboro-Deering JV girlsโ basketball team fell to Prospect Mountain, 31-20. Zoe Kemp led the Hillcats with nine points, while Erin Dean and Irena Rose both scored four.
The Hopkinton Middle School Nordic teams competed in the New Hampshire Coaches Series Race in Holderness. Ellie Clarner posted time for the Hopkinton girlsโ team, finishing 16th. Izzy Afflerbach, Paige Martin and Greta Baker also skied well. For the boysโ team, Liam OโBrien, Thaddeus Maughan, Owen Wuellenweber and Will Platt skied well.
The Above All Collision Concord Capitals Bantam 2 team defeated the Hanover Wild Bantam team, 3-2. Aiden Ramshaw, John Thomas and Reece Reedenauer scored for Concord, while Sam Foulds had an assist. Aiden Miller and Kalan Gaudreault were strong between the pipes.
The Black team defeated Red in Concord Parks and Recreation seventh- and eighth-grade boysโ basketball. For Black, Nick Reynolds finished with eight points and played excellent defense. Roy Annis added eight points and Jozuwe Tunguru contributed two. For Red, Ashton Lyon led the way with six points. Hunter Hutchison scored four and Gad Murwanashyaka added two.
The St. Paulโs varsity boysโ basketball team defeated St. Markโs, 77-56. Weareโs Parker McQuarrie scored five points. Cody Appleton led St. Paulโs with 18 points, include four 3-pointers. Jack Anderson (14 points), Chris Kaneb (three 3-pointers for nine points), Joss Eyondi (eight points) and Jordan Geronimo (seven points) also led the Big Red.

The University of New Hampshire womenโs hockey team defeated Holy Cross, 4-1. Deeringโs Jenna Rheault had three assists and Grace Middleton had the game-winning goal for the Wildcats (10-12-4, 7-11-1 Hockey East). Taylor Wenczkowksi, Lauren Martin and Carlee Turner also scored, while Kyra Smith made 21 saves.
โ The UNH womenโs basketball team lost a close one to UMBC, 64-62, despite a career-high 20 points from Kari Brekke and a career-high 13 rebounds and 11 points from Alli Gribbin. The Wildcats dropped to 4-16 overall and 1-6 in America East.
The Plymouth State menโs basketball team lost to Eastern Connecticut State, 80-75, after getting outscored, 6-1, in the gameโs final 40 seconds. Manny Alisandro (24 points, 12 rebounds) and Jaylen LeRoy (18 points) led the Panthers (10-9, 5-6 LEC).

The New England College menโs hockey team extended its unbeaten streak to 14 games with a 3-0 victory over Skidmore College. Keenan Haase scored a pair of goals for the Pilgrims (13-3-5, 7-3-5 NEHC). Nikita Pintusov also scored for NEC and Daniel Bergqvist had two assists.
โ Rene Hudson led the Pilgrims in both points (15) and rebounds (seven) to lead NEC to a 75-50 win over Becker. Jaz Laracuente (13 points, six assists, five rebounds, three steals) also played well for the Pilgrims (11-7, 10-2 NECC).

Plymouth State University softball team will host five clinics this winter. The first is on Sunday and will feature special guest coaches Dick Blood and Harold Sachs. Blood, who recorded 606 wins and five Ivy League titles during his tenure as head coach at Cornell University, will lead a hitting clinic from 9-11 a.m. Sachs, who led Salem High School to a record 18 state championships and accumulated nearly 600 wins before becoming the pitching coach at Merrimack College, will direct a pitching clinic from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The four other clinics will all be in Feb. 3, Feb. 9, Feb. 17 and Feb. 23. Hoops for Hunger week is starting across the state and Franklin High School and the Athletic Leadership Team will be taking part from Monday through to Friday. Non-perishable food items and cash donations will be collected at the gate for the Tuesdayโs home girlsโ basketball against Mascoma and also at Fridayโs home boysโ game against Winnisquam. Anyone donating at least two non-perishable food items will get free admission to the game. All proceeds will go to the Bread & Roses Food Kitchen in Franklin. Public ice skating at the Douglas N. Everett Arena in Concord will continue for the season through March 12. Skating hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sundays.
