A few weeks ago, The Concord Insider brought you a list of all the holiday shows they could find in Concord and Bow. Here are some more, and some repeats, that are happening in the next few days in a wider area.
Here are some shows to get you in the Christmas spirit.
A Christmas Comedy Spectacular will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Tandy’s Comedy Club in the Eagle Square Atrium. Laughta in New Hampsha will bring together comedians Mike Donovan, Tom Hayes and Ralph Joyal, along with musical entertainment with Tandy’s Misfit Singers.
There will be an option for a dinner buffet before the show, at 6 p.m., for $25 or show-only tickets for $15. For more information or to purchase tickets, find “A Christmas Comedy Spectacular” on eventbrite.com.
The Buzz Christmas Ball plans to bring down the house again at the Capitol Center for the Arts. The variety show with musicians, comedians and actors begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 to $45 and available at ccanh.com.
The second week of “Dickens’ A Christmas Carol” will continue at the Hatbox Theatre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Chris Collins and Boulder Canyon will welcome the holidays with A John Denver Christmas. You can catch the concert on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Flying Monkey in Plymouth. Tickets for the Flying Monkey show are $29 to $45; for information or to purchase visit flyingmonkeynh.com. (Though not this week, the Capitol Center for the Arts will also present a Christmas John Denver show on Dec. 21 by Ted Vigil.)
As it does each year, St. Paul’s School dancers will perform the second act of The Nutcracker in Memorial Hall on campus. The show will premiere on Friday at 7:30 p.m. with repeat performances on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. This free and open to the public event is on a first-come, first-served basis; new, unwrapped toy donations will be collected to be distributed to Concord-area charities. Each show will last approximately one hour and all ages are welcome.
Franklin Footlight Theatre performs a second week of shows of A Gift to Rememberat the Franklin Opera House. On Christmas Eve, during a snowstorm, a group of strangers is on a train to Boston from Bangor, Maine. However, the train develops engine trouble, and there are track problems ahead. The passengers are suddenly forced to disembark and take shelter in a small depot in New Hampshire. Separated from their families at Christmas, they try to make the best of things and find ways to celebrate the true meaning of the season. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $14 for seniors, students and children and $16 for adults. For more information, visit franklinoperahouse.org.
Scrooge: The Musical will have its second week at the Scenic Theatre in Pittsfield on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at pittsfieldplayers.com or by calling 435-8852.
Laurie Berkner and her Band will perform a concert of kid-friendly festive music at the Capitol Center for the Arts on Saturday at 11 a.m.
“I am so happy to return to Concord for a Holiday Celebration show, this time with the whole band! These are some of my favorite concerts of the year,” Laurie Berkner said in a statement. “I love singing the seasonal songs I grew up with (plus some new favorites!) and sharing them with the kids and families who so generously allow us to become part of their holiday traditions.
At the Concord City Auditorium on Saturday, Turning Point Center of Dance will perform The Nutcracker at 2 p.m. The ballet is a family tradition for many during the holiday season. Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door and available at turningpointcenterofdance.com or by calling 485-8710.
For a holiday play that will have you laughing, head to the First Baptist Church in New London for ”The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” This comedic play-within-play tells the tale a church pageant that is disrupted when the five rowdy Herdman children show up at an audition for the free snacks and get cast as Joseph, Mary and the three Wise Men. Shows will be Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations of $5 will be accepted to be donated to the Kearsarge Kares Backpack Program.
The Concord Community Music School will present its annual Holiday Folk Concert this weekend with Susie Burke, David Surette and Kent Allyn at 7 p.m. The trio interweaves nimble guitar and mandolin playing, masterful bass and piano accompaniment, and heartfelt vocals to bring holiday sparkle to the school.
