Sen. Hassan has chosen to heavily lean her re-election campaign on the issue of abortion. She claims that, if elected, General Bolduc will enact a nationwide ban on the procedure. In doing so the senator ignores the fact that the recent Dobbs decision by SCOTUS takes the matter out of the hands of the feds. In 2020, the last year for which numbers could be found, New Hampshire saw 2,050 clinical abortions. The stateโ€™s population that year was 1,377,529. For as emotional and life changing a decision as abortion is, statistics suggest it affects less than 1% of Granite State citizens.

Iโ€™d argue that inflation has a direct impact on 100% of us here. Similarly, crime is an issue the feds can act on and it impacts many more of our fellow citizens than 2,050. Is Ms. Hassanโ€™s focus on abortion some kind of dodge to deflect any consideration of her record on immigration, fentanyl importation, Green New Deal costs, energy dependence, or other issues with more wide-ranging impact? Per recent statute enacted by the state legislature, abortion will continue to be available in New Hampshire. I call on Senator Hassan to explain her many votes on all these other important issues as she applies to be re-hired.
