JV results

The Merrimack Valley JV girls’ basketball lost to Portsmouth, 37-30. Aislinn McDonald led MV with 11 points, Lauren Pettingill added six and Kaitlyn Belanger led the defensive effort.

Youth hockey results

The Concord Capitals Eastern Bank Squirt 2 team lost to Berlin, 4-2. Logan Daigle and Evan Purtell scored and Bobby Bourgault had an assist for the Capitals.

St. Paul’s results

Peri Donaldson posted the shutout and Concord’s Isabel Stoddard had an assist as the St. Paul’s girls’ hockey team beat Thayer, 5-0.

The St. Paul’s wrestling teams claimed a pair of wins – 66-6 against Lawrence Academy and 65-18 against Marianapolis Prep.

The St. Paul’s boys’ varsity basketball team played well in the second half but lost to Lawrence Academy, 62-40. The Big Red are now 5-6 (1-5).

The St. Paul’s boys’ and girls’ squash teams both posted 6-1 wins against Groton.

Jax Donahue had 18 points, but the St. Paul’s girls’ varsity basketball team lost to Lawrence Academy, 51-48.

The St. Paul’s boys’ varsity hockey team defeated Nobles & Greenough, 4-0.

Tilton School results

Hopkinton’s Maddie Clark had 13 points and four rebounds to help the Tilton girls’ varsity basketball team to a 77-52 win against Kimball Union.

Cam Weitzman had two goals and two assists, including the short-handed, game-winning tally, as the Tilton boys’ hockey team overcame a two-goal, third-period deficit to beat Brewster Academy, 6-5.

Callie Cook scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds to lead the Tilton girls’ JV basketball team to a 22-19 win over Phillips Exeter Academy.

Despite being outshot 32-10, the Tilton girls’ varsity hockey team beat Brooks School, 3-2.

NHTI results

The NHTI men’s basketball team topped Vermont Technical College, 66-55. The Lynx overcame a seven-point deficit at the half to improve to 14-7.

NEC results

The New England College women’s basketball team beat Johnson State College, 57-38, for its fifth straight win. The Pilgrims are now 11-3 overall and 6-2 in North Atlantic Conference play.

PSU results

The Plymouth State University women’s basketball team lost to Keene State, 63-47.

All five Keene State starters finished with double-figures as the Owls knocked off Plymouth State University, 82-70, in a Little East Conference men’s basketball game.

Penacook Pride Girls AAU Basketball will be hosting tryouts Jan. 29 at Merrimack Valley Middle School. High school girls tryout at 2 p.m., followed by fifth- and sixth-graders at 3:30 p.m., and seventh- and eighth-graders at 5 p.m.

Camps/Clinics/Lessons

NHTI men’s basketball head coach Paul Hogan and his team will host their first of several clinics in the 2017 series of winter basketball clinics on Saturday at the Wellness Center gym in Concord. The clinics are for boys and girls in grades 3-8. The clinics will feature an opportunity for campers to receive positive skill instruction, competitive drills and small games with each clinic. The NHTI men’s coaching staff along with players will provide the instruction under the guidance of Hogan. Campers can attend clinics for $25 pre-registered or $35 at the door. FieldHouse Sports Indoor Facility in Bow is accepting registrations for the next six-week session of soccer skills clinics for ages 6-60, which begins Jan. 30. UNH women’s soccer now has two summer camps open for registration. The 2017 Junior Wildcat Girls Soccer Camp will be held from July 10-13. All female players in grades 1-5 (as of the 2017-18 academic year) are invited to register. Four morning sessions will be taught by UNH women’s soccer staff and players. Each day runs from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. This session costs $180. The 2017 UNH Girls Soccer Overnight Camp will be held from July 16-19. This session is open to all female player in grades 6-12 (as of the 2017-18 academic year). Train on UNH game and practice surfaces, dine in UNH’s award-winning dining halls, room in on-campus housing and train with current and former women’s soccer players, staff and area coaches. The overnight option costs $530 and the commuter option totals $430.

Events

The Harlem Wizards will be playing against local teachers and other heroes on Jan. 25 at Bishop Brady High School at 7 p.m. The game will include audience participation, halftime show and free autographs. Former New England Patriot Tedy Bruschi is scheduled to be the honorary coach.

The 4th Down and 4 (Miles) Super Bowl Race will be held at North East Delta Dental in Concord on Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. The race will feature a flat and fast course, age awards, refreshments and a football theme raffle. Plymouth State University will be hosting its second annual Live, Lightning-Fast Auction on Feb. 11 from 3-6 p.m in the PSU Welcome Center. The auction is the primary fundraiser to decrease the cost of the baseball team’s annual spring trip to Florida. Cost is $25 to attend and there will be dozens of items up for bid, including Boston Red Sox tickets.

UNH ski program, in conjunction with SkiNH.com and Learfield, is offering a limited number of discount ticket packages for alpine and Nordic ski areas throughout the state for the 2016-17 season. Penacook Pride Girls AAU Basketball will be hosting tryouts Jan. 29 at Merrimack Valley Middle School. High school girls tryout at 2 p.m., followed by fifth- and sixth-graders at 3:30 p.m., and seventh- and eighth-graders at 5 p.m.

Cap City Basketball will be holding its AAU tryouts on Feb. 11 and Feb. 18 at Bishop Brady High School. Tryout times for both boys and girls are as follows: U8, U9, U10, 3-4 p.m.; U11, U12, 4-5 p.m.; U13, U14, 5-6 p.m.’ U15, U16, U17, 6-7 p.m. The AAU teams practice two times per week and will play in five to seven tournaments. Cost for tryouts is $20.

Lakes Region Flag Football League registrations are now open. League starts on Saturday and runs on Saturdays through Apr. 1. Games are played at Tilton Sports Center. Coed divisions are for ages 5-7, 8-10, and 11-14 (age of January 1). Ages 5-7 played at noon and 1 p.m., ages 8-10 play at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the 11-14 division plays at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Registration fee is $150 for a 12-week season (breaks down to $12.50 per week).
