End of B&M Signal Tower.
The recent demolition of the B&M signal tower in the Concord railyards closes out an important chapter of New Hampshire history and serves as a stark warning about what is likely to happen in the future.
The Concord Gasholder House was built in 1888 and is surrounded by the same issues as the nearby B&M signal tower. Powerful historical content, nostalgia and, when faced with the reality of destruction, significant community-based emotions.
The B&M signal tower could have been saved, but it wasn’t.
