A traffic stop escalated in Concord Wednesday evening after the driver pulled a gun on officers and fled the scene, according to police.

Around 10:35 p.m., officers stopped a blue Subaru Legacy on Interstate 93.

During the stop, the driver, identified as 54-year-old Bruce Sanborn of Center Harbor, brandished a firearm, which he pointed at the officers before speeding away.

A โ€œbe on the lookoutโ€ alert was issued for his vehicle.

The next day, a New Hampshire State Trooper located the Subaru at the Circle K gas station on Route 3A in Bow.

When troopers attempted to arrest Sanborn, he resisted and tried to grab a trooperโ€™s rifle before being handcuffed, according to police.

Sanborn was charged with resisting arrest or detention, possession of a deadly weapon and taking a firearm from a law enforcement officer.

He was held at the Merrimack County House of Corrections on preventative detention and was arraigned at Concord District Court on Thursday.

The incident remains an open and active investigation, authorities said in a press release.
