Strong Foundations Charter School in Pembroke was closed Tuesday due to a “potential threat to the school,” administrators said.
Principal Marc Belanger declined to describe the nature of the threat.
“At this point, everything has been handled with Pembroke PD and we’ll be sending more information out later today,” he said Tuesday morning.
Pembroke Police Chief Gary Gaskell wrote in a statement that the police department is “still looking into this case.” Gaskell said the case “involves juveniles.”
A notice to parents posted on social media indicated the school would reopen Wednesday with “an increased police presence.”
The school educated 337 students in kindergarten through eighth grade last year, according to the Department of Education. Opened in 2007, it is one of the largest charter schools in the state.
