Hope for American Democracy

We were thrilled to join the thousands at Concord’s “No Kings” rally. It gave us hope that America might survive the Trump autocracy. Trump and his supporters are consumed by an excess of hate, vengeance and greed. U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson foolishly said the rally was “un-American.” Obviously, this young man doesn’t know America! The rally was about our cherished freedoms and the right to assemble peaceably. As a veteran of the Korean conflict, it was uplifting to see so many veterans waving flags of resistance to Trump. We know Trump skillfully avoided the Vietnam war. We know Trump speaks of us as “suckers.” We know Trump has appointed a totally unqualified Secretary of Defense (now War). We want truths, not lies. To weaponize the U.S. government against the president’s personal enemies is not only illegal, but a complete disuse of taxpayer dollars. Thanks to all rally participants. Hope is a strong word.
