The new gold plated religion?
If you do a little research, you will find that numerous belief systems were founded in New York State which was once home to the “Burned-over District” in upstate/western New York.
Religions and followings founded in the 1800s included the “rapping” Fox sisters, the first nonbinary faith leader known as the Universal Friend and others.
One religion, founded by a young man, was based on a set of golden plates found in Manchester, New York, near his home.
We now seem to have another gold plated religion more recently founded by an older man from New York City. The new religion includes the wearing of red hats, but different than those worn by Catholic Bishops, who promote a religion based on kindness, peace and love. As far as the tenets of the new religion, they appear to be quite contrary to Christian beliefs.
We learned in (Methodist) Sunday School not to worship a golden calf or gold in general.
We learned the Bible-based golden rule and not the alternative of those who have the gold make the rules.
We were supposed to follow the Ten Commandments and not purposefully break them and then brag about it.
We were taught to turn the other cheek and not to punch people in the mouth or face.
We were taught to help the poor.
Followers of the new gold plated religion should be questioning their faith at this point and considering where their beliefs are bringing our nation and what cruel atrocities it is making them disregard.
